Wanting Approval....

We want to be accepted in a World based on opinions other people have on us. We look at all these people and compare ourselves to them. Then we think about ways to change our lives so we can be happy and confident like that person. In reality, we don't know what that person is going through. They could be one of the unhappiest people in the World. They could be going through something at home and you only get to see what they post online. We judge someone based on a picture or a status. We live in a World where we rely solely on the internet to decide our life. We want to be accepted by people we don't even know. We want so many likes on a picture and if it doesn't get enough we start to question everything about it. Was my make up not on "point"? Should I have posted a different one? Or used a different filter? We also dress to impress everyone. We go and spend a bunch of money on clothes. We want that cute boy who sits in our English class to notice the new shirt we are wearing. Or the new haircut you got. We want to be accepted by a World that in a couple of years won't matter. We will be grown up with kids and a spouse. What we posted six years ago won't matter.

I am just as guilty of these things. I worry when I post something someone will make fun of me or laugh. But it is time we start acting out of kindness. Simple comments like awww that’s a cute shirt or I like this picture can make someone’s day. It is time for us to stop judging people based on a picture. We are more than a picture or post. God made us the way we are. He is the only one who will judge us at the end of the day. We need to start working on a more positive community. Our world is a negative one. And we all contribute to that. We want praise from people that dont deserve it. We should spend less time worrying about praise from people and put that energy into something good.

I have learned in the past couple of weeks no ones opinion matters but God. We should only be wanting to please him and praise him. Not looking for people to give our praise to or in return people to praise us. The best part of church for me is the Praise Team. They take all the stuff you are feeling and help by giving you songs to praise our God with. God wants you to follow him not the latest trend. If we all started to praise Him and not everyone around us we would have such a better world.

I am not saying don't buy this shirt or don't post this picture. It is just time to start doing stuff for yourself instead of other people. Focus on yourself and God. The rest will follow.
