Living for Today and Not Yesterday
So today our message at church was called "Yesterday's Tomorrow". At first I didn't know what that meant. As Iain went more in depth I realized more people need to hear this message and what this means. So here is what I got from this message.
- The first major point made was let go of what has you trapped. Do it today and don't be stuck in yesterday. This hit home with me. I always keep everything built up and take everything to heart. I dwell in the past and I tend to not look to the future. You have to realize God holds the future. He may take you on a detour before you can reach the destination. Move on from what is holding you back so you are able to live for tomorrow. Live for today, not yesterday, or a couple months ago. Live for today. Exodus 8:1-4
- Second point made was, "Your destiny is greater than your history." Just because you had a rough life growing up or have been in a situation you aren't proud of doesn't mean it can define you. If you let it define you then it will take over and make your life a negative one. You can dwell on your history or you can try and change your future. You can take what use to be a negative and learn to make a positive out of it. Philippians 3:13
- "Stop looking for the NEXT thing and see the NEW thing God is doing." You can't hold the old inside and keep expecting new things to happen. We often also try to look for the next thing in our life and we often forget to see what God is doing for us now. Let God mold you into who he wants you to be. No matter what God will show you what and who you should be. He may test you and take you down roads you don't understand. He has an ultimate a plan that only he knows. You should kneel down today so you can get to tomorrow. Isaiah 43:19 & Matthew 9:17
- Lastly is the part about living for today. God wants us to get up everyday and know it is a new start. You may have had a bad day yesterday but that doesn't mean it is a bad life. We should get up and rejoice. HE has gave us another day to be alive and to try to make today better than yesterday. "Opportunity is now." Psalms 118: 24-25
With Love,
